Book day trips on a crewed charter yacht

The harbour is Sydney's defining characteristic. It is both the city playground and a major port. Its sandstone headlands, dramatic cliffs, and stunning bays and beaches make it one of the most beautiful stretches of cruising water in the world... ideal for day trips on a crewed charter yacht.

Officially called Port Jackson, the harbour stretches some 20km (12mi) inland to join the mouth of the Parramatta River. The most scenic area is on the ocean side of the bridge, an area that is often visited by a crewed charter yacht on a scheduled day trip... The Sydney Harbour National Park protects the scattered pockets of bushland around the harbour and offers good walking tracks... however the best way to experience the harbour is to to actually cruise it. Scheduled day trips leave from Circular Quay... Sydney Ferries have mapped out 16 walks around Sydney Harbour you can take on a day trip, all easily accessible by ferry. From the isolated beaches of Middle Harbour, to the bright lights and excitement of Darling Harbour, there is plenty to see and do on day trips that can be booked on a crewed charter yacht... read more

More about Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour National Park protects various islands and foreshore areas around one of the world's most famous harbours. It contains rare pockets of the bushland which was once common around Sydney, and visiting in these remnants on day trips you'll find a surprising range of native animals living in the park.

But beyond the scenery, there's a lot of history, mystery and cultural heritage waiting to be discovered. You'll find buildings constructed with convict labour; historic maritime and military installations; and the Quarantine Station which used to protect Sydneysiders from infectious diseases. You'll also find many Aboriginal sites - signposts of an ancient cultural heritage that still lives on, despite the devastating impact of colonisation.

Park highlights

  • Day trips by ferry to Fort Denison and the other harbour islands, with their intriguing stories and great views.
  • Discover the contrasting landscapes of the Manly Scenic Walkway on a day trip that takes you past exclusive waterfront suburbs, native coastal heath and subtropical rainforest remnants.
  • The many guided day trips in the park, from bush food tours around Bradleys Head to night-time ghost walks in the Quarantine Station.
  • Take a day trip out to historic Nielsen Park for a swim and a picnic... this has been an important part of harbourside life since the early 20th century.
