The Casinos

QUEENSLAND

Conrad Treasury, Brisbane

How to get there: Being located right in the centre of the Brisbane CBD it is walking distance from most of the major hotels. It is also walking distance from the Roma Street Transit Centre (walk 5 blocks up George Street) and from the central train station. Undercover parking for 750 vehicles is available, but can be expensive ($25 on Friday night).

Casino: The renovated government Treasury Building makes a spectacular setting for this casino. The main gaming floor is situated on the Queen St level under the four storey atrium with coconut palms set amongst the gaming tables. It is easy to get lost in the surrounding rooms containing restaurants, bars, gaming machines and further table games. The second level contains the VIP section and Club Conrad - a higher minimum betting area that is accessible to the general public. Note that more stringent dress standards apply to this area.

Conrad Jupiters, Gold Coast

How to get there: Jupiters is a 20-minute drive from Coolangatta Airport, an hour's drive from Brisbane Airport or an hour and a half via the Airtrain service from Brisbane Airport. The Airtrain service also passes through the Brisbane CBD.

Coach services, limousines and buses provide transfers from Coolangatta and Brisbane Airports. A private shuttle service is also available from the Brisbane Airport.

Free public parking is available on all levels of the car park. Hotel guest parking, accessible by the use of guest room keys, and valet parking are also available at a nominal cost.

For a novel way to get there from the Beach, take the monorail from the shopping centre below the Grand Mercure Hotel.

Casino: A small casino with two levels of gaming, with the second level comprised mainly of gaming machines. Only a few restaurants and bars within in the complex, but with the excitement of Broadbeach not far away this is of little concern.
