ISITORS TO AUSTRALIA can beat "paying at the pumps" by travelling smart... the map below shows the trains which |
provide a motorail service.
... Take your car on a rail holiday too!
You can take your car by motorail on one of Australia's great train trips for a fraction of what it would cost you in petrol. Not only do you save money, but you arrive relaxed and fresh. The Indian Pacific travels between Sydney and Perth via Adelaide - 4352 kilometres! The trip takes three days.
The Ghan travels Adelaide to Darwin (2,979 km) over two nights... The Overland is a daylight service of a mere 828 km between |
|
Melbourne and Adelaide... In Queensland, you can take your car by motorail on the Spirit of the Outback, 1,326 km Brisbane to Longreach or by motorail on The Sunlander from Brisbane to Townsville or Cairns.
It is NOT possible to take your car with you when travelling between Sydney and Melbourne... nor between Sydney and Brisbane... Motorail bookings for your car should be made at the time of booking your rail fare. Generally, motorail is a service for passengers travelling on the train; however, it is often possible (at higher cost) to organise car transport by train and consign your car unaccompanied...
