The trip

W hen you consider Queensland rail travel, the Sunlander
shines bright as one of Australia's longest running and most endearing railway tours. For fifty years, several times a week, The Sunlander has weaved its way along Australia's incredible northeast coast.

To travel by rail on the Sunlander is a relaxing, comfortable journey that runs between Queensland's tropical capital, Brisbane, and laid back Cairns, where the Great Barrier Reef meets the timeless Daintree wilderness.

Your holiday experience aboard The Sunlander begins the moment you step aboard and continues all the way. And like all Queensland rail travel, the surroundings are comfy and cosy, and the ever-changing scenery is sensational, it's the warmth and very social atmosphere that makes The Sunlander so special. Some say you don't just take a journey aboard The Sunlander, you share a lifelong experience with new found friends.

Offering passengers a comfortable and affordable way to see coastal Queensland, The Sunlander travels return from Brisbane to Cairns three times a week... Optional railway tours can also be organised along the way... Contact us.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the Sunlander meanders its way through scenic, lush countryside of Queensland's coastal towns until reaching its destination of Cairns. Passengers travel in first or economy class. Sleeping berths and seating is also available.

Families find the Sunlander a wonderful holiday experience as it is great value for money, with on-board entertainment provided for children during school holiday periods... And with large panoramic windows from which to view, you are able to capture the true sense of life along the east coast as The Sunlander travels along the lush coastline.

While on board there is plenty to amuse with air-conditioned serviced bars, club cars and dining cars. Passengers can challenge others on board to a friendly game of cards, watch a movie or simply read.

As far as accommodation goes, The Sunlander gives you plenty of choices, with single, twin, or triple berth sleepers and general seating. And no matter where you are onboard, you're never far from great food and refreshments...
