HE TRAIN'S tilt technology and track improvements cuts approximately 7 hours off the current schedule from |
Brisbane to Cairns, with a journey time of just 25 hours compared to 32 hours for the Sunlander.
Tilt technology works by a pneumatic ram which smoothly assists the carriages to 'tilt' into curves, allowing the train to power through corners while still maintaining the highest level of passenger comfort.
The train's seven carriages are powered by two lightweight, high performance power cars. Each car is powered by two 12 cylinder turbo charged diesel engines, capable of producing 1350 kw. Top speed for the train is 160 kph.
