Tilt technology works by a pneumatic ram which smoothly assists the carriages to 'tilt' into curves, allowing the train to power through corners while still maintaining the highest level of passenger comfort.

The train's seven carriages are powered by two lightweight, high performance power cars. Each car is powered by two 12 cylinder turbo charged diesel engines, capable of producing 1350 kw. Top speed for the train is 160 kph.

The Onboard Experience

• All passengers aboard the Tilt Train travel business class.
• Seats are wide and comfortable, and recline back 37 degrees. Each seat has its own personal audio-visual entertainment system, stored in the armrest.
• The entertainment system allows passengers to select from multiple video channels featuring late release films, classic movies, comedy, kids entertainment and journey information or tune into a number of audio channels offering a wide range of music styles.
• Each passenger also has access to a personal power point for plugging in their laptop or computer game.
• The train is fitted with toilets and showers, including wheelchair accessible facilities. (the train is designed to accommodate people with disability)
• Traveling can be a hungry business and passengers are well catered for by a convenient trolley service, which can deliver meals directly to their seat, and a Club Car selling a variety of snacks and drinks.
