Booking conditions

All tickets purchased are subject to the terms and conditions as noted on Spirit of Tasmania’s ticket covers. A copy is available on request.

Contact your nearest travel agent or phone Spirit of Tasmania Reservations on 13 20 10.

For bookings over school holiday periods, please make reservations as far in advance as possible. Deposits, cancellations and no-show fees apply. Spirit of Tasmania cannot accept responsibility for any cancellation fees which may be imposed by any third parties.

Dress standard
The accepted minimum dress standard for passengers is a t-shirt, shorts (not swim wear), and footwear. If a passenger’s dress standard does not meet this basic requirement, they will be asked to change or they may be refused passage.

Standard of behavior
Passengers are requested to behave in a civil manner. Drunkenness, fighting, obscene or abusive language will not be tolerated.

Important notice
Changes to the schedules may be necessary to cater for seasonal demands, operational difficulties due to weather or ship unserviceability and other unforeseen circumstances. Where possible, passengers will be notified of any changes. All fares and rates are subject to alteration without notice. The payable fare will be that applying at the date the booking is fully paid. On board facilities may vary according to season.

Smoking
Smoking is permitted in designated outside areas only.

Baggage Allocation
Passengers may carry on one piece of baggage. No baggage restrictions apply in passenger vehicles. Up to 2 pieces of accompanied baggage can be stored on the baggage trolley for no charge.

Pets/Kennels
A limited number of kennels are available at a cost of $21 per pet. Enquire at time of booking.

Quarantine
Quarantine regulations apply in Tasmania. Enquire at time of booking.

Fare conditions

Ship saver fares
Limited space available for specially discounted Ship Saver fares. 100% cancellation fee applies and full payment is required at time of booking. Availability is strictly limited. Amendment fees apply.

Check-in
Check-in for Spirit of Tasmania commences one and a half hours prior to departure. Final check-in 30 minutes prior to departure.

Pensioner
Applies to holders of Australian Pension Concession Cards. Availability limited. Appropriate ID required.

Seniors
Applies to passengers 60 years and over. Appropriate ID required.

Tertiary
Applies to full time tertiary students. Appropriate ID required.

Child
Applies to children under 16 years of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult in cabins.

Student
Applies to full-time secondary students 16-18 years of age. Proof of full time enrolment required.

Apex
Applies to return discount fares. Booking must be made at least 30 days prior to departure and payment made within 3 days of booking. Fare not refundable, including downgrade, or transferable. Limited availability and insurance recommended.

Infants
Under the age of 3 travel free, providing they are not occupying a bed. Not permitted for travel in Cruise Seats or Business Class Seats. Cots available in non-share cabins. Linen not supplied with cots. Request at time of booking. Baby change facilities are available in the public toilets. Infants are not allowed in the Cruise Seat or Business Class Seat areas.

Disabled Travelers
Limited cabins for disabled Travelers available with wheelchair access. Enquire at time of booking.

Medical Needs
People with specific medical needs must notify Spirit of Tasmania at time of booking.

Sole Use/Share Cabins
Cabins are sold on a share basis and sole use is available for an additional cost.

Push Bikes
Bicycles are free during shoulder and off-peak seasons and $6 in peak season. Enquire at time of booking.

Standard car conditions

  • Only licensed drivers are eligible for the accompanied vehicle rate.
  • Vehicle fares indicated apply to motor vehicles registered for use on public roads and are designed primarily for the carriage for passengers.
  • Vehicles not registered as a campervan or motorhome and have a width greater than 2.0 metres and/or registered gross vehicle weight of greater than 2900kg will be subject to classification and freight rates may apply.
  • Additional metre surcharge applied to each excess metre or part thereof. Enquire at time of booking.
  • Vehicles traveling on a permit are to comply with the aforementioned and a certificate of roadworthiness must be provided at time of check-in.
  • Towed vehicles rate is determined by the total overall length of both units. Please refer to non-standard car rates
  • Conditions apply to trailers that are not registered as a campervan or caravan and carriage of LPG Cylinder bottles. Enquire at time of booking

Nonstandard car conditions

  • Definition of a caravan – A caravan is defined as a vehicle towed by an eligible passenger vehicle and designed and constructed primarily to provide sleeping accommodation
  • Definition of a motorhome/campervan – A motorhome/campervan is defined as a road vehicle designed and constructed primarily to provide sleeping accommodation for the number of occupants that the vehicle is designed to carry.
  • Only licensed drivers are eligible for the accompanied vehicle rate.
  • Vehicle fares indicated apply to motor vehicles registered for use on public roads and are designed primarily for the carriage for passengers.
  • Vehicles not registered as a campervan or motorhome and have a width greater than 2.0 metres and/or registered gross vehicle weight of greater than 2900kg will be subject to classification and freight rates may apply.
  • Trailers over 2.25 metres high and/or 2.4 metres wide are subject to classification at time of booking.
  • Additional metre surcharge applied to each excess metre or part thereof. Enquire at time of booking.
