What time should I check in on the Spirit of Tasmania?
-
It is important to observe check-in times as late arrival may
lead to cancellation of travel arrangements... plan these times
into your Tasmania holidays schedule. Spirit of Tasmania must depart on time and no responsibility can be
accepted for passengers arriving late. Check-in commences 1 hour 30 minutes
prior to departure with final check-in 30 minutes prior to departure.
Please ensure you check your ticket for the day, date and departure
time for the Spirit of Tasmania which you are booked to sail
on.
- Sydney terminal gates for boarding open at 12.30 pm prior
to check in commencing. Please note there are no parking facilities
available
prior to boarding.
- Melbourne terminal gates for boarding open at 6.30 pm for
night sailings and 6.30 am for day sailings prior to check in commencing.
There
is limited council parking available prior to boarding.

Special check in requirements
-
All passengers on the Spirit of Tasmania with severe mobility disabilities
and traveling with a vehicle are required to check-in 2 hours prior
to scheduled departure time. As
loading of the vehicle is compact, assistance will be provided for
your convenience.
You will need to advise the Customer Service Supervisor before checking
in your vehicle.

Where does my luggage go?
-
If you have a vehicle, lock it inside. For security reasons
there is no access to vehicles during the voyage. If
you are not traveling with a vehicle on your Tasmania holidays you
are restricted to placing 2 items only on the baggage trolley
beside the terminal building.
Please note responsibility can not be taken for the security of such
items and porterage is not available at the terminals.

What do I bring on board?
-
Your cabin contains bed linen, towels and soap.
Take with you personal toiletries and clothing items in
an overnight bag. If you
are traveling on the Spirit of Tasmania with an infant and have reserved
a cot you will need to bring linen for the cot.
Where do I obtain my cabin key?
-
When
you present your ticket you will receive a Spirit of Tasmania boarding
pass and a ship directory with your cabin number and key card/s

How do I drive my vehicle on board?
-
- All passengers are to proceed to the vehicle check-in booths where
you will be checked-in and provided with boarding passes for each passenger,
your cabin keys and Spirit of Tasmania ship directory.
- All passengers traveling with
the vehicle are to remain in the vehicle for boarding via the vehicle
deck.
- Spirit of Tasmania also carries freight and due to different loadings
each day, short delays may occur when loading your vehicle. However,
these will be kept to a minimum.
- Once you have parked your
vehicle, place in park/gear and engage the park brake. Note
the deck number and position of the
vehicle within the deck so that you can easily find your car
on arrival.
- On arrival, announcements will be made regarding disembarkation
and you will be called to your vehicle by deck numbers. When
disembarking Spirit of Tasmania please do not start you engine
until told to do so.
- All passengers traveling with a vehicle may disembark
the Spirit of Tasmania with the driver.

Are there quarantine laws?
-
Both your vehicle and luggage are
liable to inspection by Department of Agriculture Inspectors at both
terminals. Any fruit, vegetables or plants must be declared or you
could face severe penalties. Exemption Certificates are available from
your local
Department
of Agriculture.

Eftpos
-
Eftpos facilities are not available
on any ships of the Spirit of Tasmania fleet.
