Provisioning

B ecause cruising builds a healthy appetite careful provisioning is an important part in preparing for your cruising holiday... and requires some pre-planning to make
sure that there is enough food and drink stocked on-board to feed the crew and last the duration of your charter... Running out of food, forgetting basic ingredients or having to put up with unappetizing meals can spoil the most idyllic holiday.

 Using a provisioning company

There's nothing more convenient than ordering in advance and having all your provisioning needs on board when you arrive.

In Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island, local dining is convenient and economical...and you'll find Resort Restaurants brimming with atmosphere throughout the Whitsunday Islands
See Resort Information

You'll find all bareboats have refrigerator/freezers, a fully equipped galley and basic housekeeping supplies. Please refer to the section "Staples, utensils and linen" in the page describing the details of each boat.

A provisioning company will give you providing options to suit your specific cruising plans... If you plan on preparing your own meals you'll need full provisioning.... On the other hand, if you intend spending time sampling the delights of the various resort restaurants, you may want to be only partially provisioned.

The following provisioning options are available.

  • FULL PROVISIONING STANDARD
Full provisioning standard gives you three splendid meals a day, as well as pre-dinner snacks, and morning and afternoon tea. This package is suitable for those charterers who wish to take full advantage of deserted islands with the freedom to sail and anchor wherever the prevailing winds dictate.

  • PARTIAL PROVISIONING STANDARD
You may wish to dine at one or more of the resort islands. With partial provisioning you will have all your breakfasts, lunches, morning and afternoon teas and snacks, but a proportion (one in three) of your evening meals will not be catered for. This package suits the charterer who wants the freedom of the islands but who also wants to indulge in Whitsunday night life at the resorts.

  • GOURMET
The Gourmet Package can be either full or partial (as above) but several special extras are included for each meal. As well as prime cuts of export quality meats, pates and boxed chocolates. This package is great for the charterer who appreciates the best.

  • SELF SELECT
Should you prefer to order specific provisions but wish the providore to do your leg work, a Self Select list is available... This is normally charged at supermarket rates plus a handling charge of approx. 15%.

  • BEVERAGES & LIQUOR
A comprehensive range of beers, wines, spirits and cold drinks are stocked. Price list supplied.

  • SPECIAL REQUESTS
A provisioning service is always able to cater for special dietary requirements, such as Kosher, salt-free, gluten-free and vegan.
Withsunday provisioning

The team at Whitsunday Provisioning have been stocking boats for holiday makers for the past 20 years and have vast experience with quantities and items suitable for all your galley needs...

For more information on this service, see Whitsunday Provisioning.

 Buying your own provisions

If you fly into the Whitsundays your options can be a bit more restricted than if you drive, but either way you have a good choice of food and liquor outlets.

If you plan on buying your own provisions and are planning an early morning 8.30 to 9.00am briefing with your charter operator on the morning of your first days charter... you will need to arrive in the Whitsundays the day before to give yourself the necessary time - and remember you will have to make arrangements with your charter operator and allow the time to get your provisions to the boat, and on-board.
