observatory; small informal resort. Scuba diving and coral
viewing.
24. Border Island: Anchorage. Excellent fringing
reef development. Good Snorkeling. in right conditions. Views
from saddle.
25. Peter Bay (east Whitsunday Island): Good
Snorkeling. 'Cathedral' of palms. |
26. Apostle Bay (east Whitsunday
Island): Good anchorage in sou'-easters. 27. Tongue Bay
(east Whitsunday Island): Good anchorage in sou'-easters. 28. Hill Inlet
(Whitsunday Island, east side): Deep tidal estuary. Good dinghy exploring. Wading
birds.

30. Cid Harbour (west Whitsunday Island): Large
all-weather anchorage. Good sand beaches. Water, picnic tables,
camping.

32. Gulnare Inlet (east Whitsunday Island): Good
all-weather anchorage. Deep estuary for exploring in dinghy.
Good fishing. Remains of old logging tramway.

36. Hamilton Island Marina and Resort (western side Hamilton
Island): Man-made harbour and floating marina. Complete

38. Hamilton Island (east side): Largest island
resort development in Australia. Hotel and apartment-style accommodation.
Bars and restaurants. Watersports. Electric buggy hire. Golf
driving range. Animal park. Walks.

41. Whitehaven Beach (eastern Whitsunday Island): Six
kilometres of pure white silica sand. Great swimming. Take insect
repellant with you.
